Hi everyone.
I haven't posted in a while as I decided that I needed to focus on Christmas and family visits up North; then I could really start the New Year with blogs and challenges. But I find myself today with a bit of free time and recovering from being poorly, so what better therapy than my blog!
Christmas has been lovely apart from being poorly for some of it. A 24 hour d&v bug that leaves you completely worn out! My daughter Kati has a serious phobia about people vomiting, so hence when I started she left ! Panic stricken she phoned my friend at 12.30 past midnight! and side 'get here now' ! Ha Ha - lucky I have a very understanding friend. When it materialised she had a house full of guests and Kati was not going to be able to stay there she phoned her dad to come and pick her up ! Whilst all this was going on I was 'incapacitated' and just glad someone else was dealing with it. Kati felt really bad about not staying with me, but just couldn't stay. I think I may need to look for some sort of professional help as she hyperventilates, cold sweats, shakes, cries uncontrollably etc etc. She gets in a real state even if you say 'I feel sick' - even if you don't mean the throwing variety!
Must be difficult with a phobia. I have never come across this before in my family and I an certainly not one for 'molly-coddling' something but she really does get in a state!
So I have been home alone, poorly for two days, the odd phone call to see if I am still alive and still vomiting ! She did come back yesterday for some clothes and even though I said I hadn't been sick for at least 8 hours, she didn't want to come near me and take the chance! Ha Ha
Ever felt you've been dumped! .....lol
Well I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and the New Year brings us all what we wish for.
Hiya Julie,
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your daughter and her phobia but I just wanted to let you know there is help available as I run a support forum and website dedicated to helping people with phobias called Ofear The Fear & Phobia Forum
There are specialists online to offer help and a special E-group for emetophobics has just been setup.
Take care
John
Aw you poor thing! I think an awful lot of us were poorly over the Christmas period (I managed to get it before the Christmas week thanks goodness but gave it to my hubby, so kind of me don't you think!!!)
ReplyDeleteHope you're well on the mend now babes.
Have a happy new year
hugs Bev x
Hi Julie,
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better now and you're not still 'personna non gratia' with your daughter. It must be awful to have a phobia. I suppose we all have little ones - but not those that rule our lives - bless her. I don't know many people who haven't been ill this Christmas. Perhaps if we get a decent summer this year we will all be more resilient.
All the best to you for 2009.
hugs Heather xx
